Why Mauzo

Sales in a notebook. Stock in someone's head.

Most shops and restaurants still run on a counter book, a calculator and the owner's memory. Sales are written up at the end of the day, if at all. Stock runs out without warning, mobile money is reconciled by scrolling through SMS, and an owner cannot see what a branch sold unless they are standing in it. Imported POS systems assume constant internet, card payments and English. None of those hold at the counter of a Tanzanian duka.

Mauzo is a point-of-sale and business management system for Tanzanian shops, restaurants and retailers. An Android till that keeps selling without internet, a web back office for the owner, and the kitchen, stock, books and reporting behind every sale, on one record.
